Ageplay is a form of regressive roleplay in which a physical adult takes on the role of a child. Regressive ageplay
The term ageplay can be used as a standard roleplay term, but generally ageplay is a form of emotional regression. Some enjoy ageplay because they feel a need to express a childlike side, others may feel they are of a psychological age younger than their physical age, and some have dissociative child personalities (see dissociative identity disorder). Many people consider their "inner child," a very real part of themselves. Reparenting
Reliving childhood experiences, under the caring eye of a guardian of their own choosing (whom they may consider their "mommy" or "daddy", "aunt" or "uncle", etc) is a valuable healing process for many ageplayers. The term used for this is reparenting. Many ageplayers feel a need to be taken care of, or to live with rules that give them a feeling of stability. The reparenting relationship may be part-time, or as thorough as a genuine parent/child relationship, with rules, set bedtimes, childlike clothing and toys. Discipline as well as nurturing may be enforced by the guardian if such rules are broken, with the prior consent of the ageplaying adult. This may include punishments such as grounding or spanking.
Ageplay roles
Ageplay roles range from infanthood to adolescence, and some ageplayers may identify with more than one age, taking on different ageplay roles at different times. Differing types of ageplay may be referred to in the following ways:
* Infantilism : The desire to be treated as a baby or toddler. This form of ageplay appears to be far more prevalent among men, and rare among women. Infantilists may also be called adult babies or diaper lovers, although people going by these terms may not necessarily be infantilists (see infantilism). Infantilists usually wish to be entirely taken care of by a guardian as if they were a baby.
* Juvenilism : Refers to ageplayers who take the role of a prepubescent child. This type of ageplay appears to be slightly more common among women than men.

* Guardianship : An adult figure who does not roleplay a child, but rather a guardian role such as a "mommy" or "daddy" to child ageplayers. In online ageplay communities, there is often a shortage of guardians in comparison to the number of child ageplayers, and so it can be difficult for a "little" to find one. Some take on guardianship of more than one child ageplayer.
Inner child therapy
Regressive ageplay may be linked to inner child therapy, the concept of which is to connect with one's childhood feelings in order to deal with trauma experienced in childhood. It has seen increased popularity in recent years and some areas may have ageplay groups or "inner child workshops" where adults can explore these themes in a safe environment.
Sexual Ageplay
Sexual Ageplay is a type of sexual roleplay which, because of its dominance and submission aspects, is considered a form of BDSM. It may be referred to as edgeplay because of its level of social acceptability; such roleplay may involve (fictional) incest, and a common reaction is to associate child roleplaying in a sexual situation with pedophilia. Most sexual ageplayers resent any association with pedophilia, and claim that neither party is encouraged to believe there is a real child involved, and that it involves two consenting adults with one expressing the assumed emotional vulnerability of a child.
In sexual ageplaying, the dominant generally plays the role of some form of a guardian/authority figure (teacher, doctor, parent, etc). Ageplay can also be bratplay in which the "child" is disobedient and bratty, and puts up verbal or physical resistance. (In such play, a safeword is even more important.)
Ageplay practices may include:
* spanking

The real lesson from beauty and the beast is that under the rough exterior and tempermental faults there is someone conflicted with sadness and pain who only longs to find that one true love and will let him be himself and not run, try and change him, or turn him into what he is not yet it seems that, the disney movie in particular, loves to point out that the beast can change and that true love can only be found once he releases his demons, changes his appearance, and softens up and becomes in a sense human. I don't think that's fair.
If you find a wolf in a forest he will growl and you're initial reaction should be fear and alarm. But as you get closer he backs away but you notice the growl isn't so loud anymore. Maybe if you kneel down and get on his level you'll make him curious, wonder what you're up to; he's not use to compassion. He's a beast and people fear him, he's not supposed to be loved. Maybe he takes a step closer and sniffs the air to sense and notice that your fear is gone and you just want to place a loving hand on his face or under his chin so as not to show dominance. He's scared now and doesn't want to get his hopes up and let you know that maybe he's hungry or hurt or simply wants to be shown a little affection. From this point one of two things usually happen. The wolf gets a smile from his visitor and they respectfully bow out and walk away. Or the visitor's true side shows and they were just fascinated by the creature and want to say that they've been close to one so they can brag about it to their friends or take a picture and there was no regard for it's feelings.
But just once, let's pretend we can re-write this story with a happy ending. As the wolf takes a chance and moves forward, his visitor sits being completely submissive and trusting knowing that if they, for any reason, alarm the beast they are in danger. Thus by giving the power over to the creature he feels it's safe to be lured in. Maybe the visitor has a surprise for him beyond just affection, maybe there's food or a treat. Inches away you could feel the energy of both as they walk the fine line between fear and anticipation. The offering is placed before the creature, not handed to him, he's not ready for physical contact yet, and the treat is taken. A pant and open mouth show a thank you and he's ready to leave expecting nothing more but sees an upturned welcoming hand resting just outside of his visitor's lap and he so desperately wants to be petted. With a leap of faith and an outstretched hand skin touches snout and the beasts heart melts as his eyes close. In that one moment he could be happy and should go but is now tempted and teased with companionship.
The wolf's ears are back and a worried look is prevalent in his eyes but now sees both hands outstretched welcoming him in. This visitor, a beautiful woman with love in her eyes and compassion in her heart, beckons the beast. She could be trying to capture him, put him on display, holding him for a hunter to murder, or something...there has to be something wrong. Against his better judgment he puts his life in her hands and head down steps back towards her. He buries his head in her chest and receives a hug.
It was at that moment he imagined his glass heart had shattered and the glass slivers were tearing every vein open letting his life drain away but that was not the case. Instead he felt a warming rush of affection, like a glue mending the cracks in his heart's facade that pleased his soul and he pushed in because he couldn't hug back. His ears were scruffed and he looked up to smiling face that was excited to let him know everything's going to be okay. She was free to pat him on the head, grab at the fur around his neck, all things that would normally show dominance in the species but he knew he could trust her and it was just a sign of affection.
Where does this story go? How does it end? We don't or won't know until it happens, but what could happen you ask? She now has a protector and something to watch over her that if she ever needed any sort of help or was ever in trouble he'd give his own life trying to save her just for that one moment of bliss she gave him. She'd have something powerful and magnificent to admit was her companion that people would marvel at wish they had. She would have the comfort of knowing that even though he might not be there all the time and that his life is in the wild he will always return faithfully and never stray. She would also have that unconditional love that only an animal, or beast if you will, can give a human. Best yet, she would know, that through life and even death, she would have a loving and trusting companionship with something people generally only find fascinating but that she saw beyond the rough exterior, didn't ask it to be domesticated or change it's habits, and let it be the beast that it is that she excepted him for. She'd also be able to flaunt that friendship and he would let her lead him around by a chain for a walk to show ownership and maybe he would become a little more tame, yet she would always respect the wild animal that resides inside and forgive his uncontrollable outbursts that are only in his nature.
Standing on top of a rock peering down on a town, this wolf has enjoyed this fantasy, because that's all it is. He deems it impossible and wonders why he would even ponder such fantastical realities. As he walks away he hangs his head and is sad but takes one last look at the town before heading back to familiar territory and whines. Sure would be nice. I don't think wolves can cry, maybe they can, if this one could I'm sure he would. That town. That place he is curious about must hold the thing he longs for most. It has to! He can't give up hope. After leaving the pack and venturing out on his own he's traveled the country trying to find that companionship in what he feels is a fruitless effort but he can't help but try. He feels playful and runs back to the rock and stands poised and with head pointed to the moon howls for all to hear.
