Bassist for metal band (Reno)

Ok so I'm an 18 year old bassist, ive been playing for about 6 years now, and i wanna take my music to a new level, i listen to tons of music, from pop punk to death metal, im into just about anything. I've got my own gear, a Fender J bass, a low end Gretsch bass, and a 200 watt acoustic half stack, not huge but its still plenty loud, ive used it for small shows and it does the trick, and on the effects side of things i have a nice Boss ME-50B multi pedal which does a great job at everything. So my sound is very versatile. Also, I have my own car and can transport my gear and make it to practices. Anyways, Id love to join a band, but first heres my preferances, not to try to lay down the law but i figure i might as well say what im looking for. I dont care how many people, though a slipknot style of 7 or more is a bit much, i can sorta understand Singer, guitarist, guitarist, bassist, drummer, keyboardist, but i dont see a need for more, As far as styles, personally im more into bands like In Flames, Dethklok (yes the cartoon band, i honestly think they rock haha), Dope, Korn, System of a down, Manson or Opeth, but like i said im into everything, thats just my metal preferances. So overall, none of the newer hardcore stuff, dont hate it, i just dont wanna play it.

We are looking for a fast passed singer that's dynamic, our music is verry ecclectic, its hardcore based with a touch of rock, southern swing, pop and metal. We need a singer that's dynamic, can scream, yell, even sing if posable. �Our background is promenantly hardcore, we have all come from other hardcore bands but want to Brodden up our sound with more influence. We need someone to complement the Agresive and heavy grooves.
Age isn't a big issue as long as you can travel out of the country and have your crap together, our ages range from 18 to 28. We don't care if your a guy or girl, straight or gay. We have a girl drummer and she is one of our greatest assets.
�We are in it to have fun but we are seriouse musicians, we have all been playing and touring for a long time and plan to do it even longer.
Some good singers to look at for referance would be every time I die, the Bronx, newer cancer bats, run with hunted, maylene and the sons of disaster, norma Jean. � You don't have to sound like one of them, it's just so you can see what I mean by dynamic, changing from singing to yelling to screaming to complement the sound.

Are there any players in the local area that would like to form a band doing music that everyone else is not doing?

What I mean by this, is it seems there are a ton of people doing blues, and all the same old classic rock tunes that have been played by bar bands for the last 20 years.

People, it's getting old for the audiences, they are tired of hearing the same old tunes.

So, I am a drummer, and I've done all I can think of to try and form a band here in Reno. I've built a venue, so we can be based out of our own club and not have to tear down all the time and set up on some tiny stage in some dive bar someplace with no crowd. I have a huge stage and on it I have a full 1200w 20 channel PA w/digital effects, JBL tower mains, Carvin monitors, Shure/AKG mics, keyboard onsite, lights., etc.. I also have computer onstage with recording abilities straight to .mp3s, or even digital videos should we want to make a video.

I just want to find some bandmates that can get along, are willing to get together more than once a week and are really serious about putting together a FUN productive group that actually entertains the people with quality sound and a great stage presence. I would like us to be a group that can become friends, and enjoy playing together for the fun we create, not so much just a job you show up at and "do your part".

I play Bass and guitar, have equipment and some lyrics/songs that I'd love to hash out with others. Looking for drums, guitar, vox and other writers interested in playing regularly and hopefully gigging. I live and work in Truckee but I'm willing to travel a few nights a month to practice/gig. Ideally I'd like to practice once a week, but I'm not sure I could drive to Reno that often.

6L6 tubes... too many to choose from. (Anywhere or Reno)

My tubes just burnt out (kind of violently too) in my 70's Music Man. I was using GrooveTube 6L6S's (KT66/5881) with a hardness of 6 which sounded nice through a Marshall 4x12 clone, but were a little throaty and lacked a little bottom end through the combo's 2x10. My previous Sylvania 6L6's had the opposite characteristics... I play a large variety of styles through this amp. I've always loved its tone and its always been my go-to amp for most gigging situations. I've heard Electro-Harmonix russian 6L6GC's have good range with very little microphonic noise in Fender type amps like this, but unfortunately I can't seem to find a dealer here who carries them. Anyways, anyone have any recommendations for brands they've tried? Got any good or bad experiences you'd like to share?

I am a local Reno drummer that got tired of having no place to play,
or having to play under somone elses' rules on some tiny stage where
the management treats you like a juke box. So I made my own place...
"Boogitys". (link to video at bottom of post)

I have two main goals in mind...

1) To have my own place to practice and perform with a tight group of band mates, mainly
based out of the club but also doing select bookings elsewhere; promotiong the club, the band,
and of course the bands original music.

2) To offer something to the local music "scene". I hear alot of people concerned about what
Reno has to offer for the music scene, maybe I can add something positive to that in a couple of ways.
Untill I "actually open" the club, I would like to offer it to other groups, solo artists or others to
have a place to come and perform live on a stage. While here, we can record your performance in both
digital audio, and/or digital video as well. If you want, you can even have some of your friends come over
and give your video that "live audience" feel and look. Mess up? who cares, do it again..haha!

Anyway, that's the short of it. As I am not officially open yet, not going to charge anyone expensive rates.
Give me a call, tell me your project, how much time you would need here, what of mine you may
need or want to use and we can discuss a donation to helping me get fully open. I would also be open to
some possible equipment trades for time. The club is available 7 days a week, depending on the day of
the week you would need we can discuss how late we can go... Fri/Sat's we can go till...??

So, I'm looking and praying for a group of skilled and passionate worshipers to search and follow God's lead as we join to glorify His name. I'm not exactly looking to be a United cover band, but am certainly looking for people who are capable of covering some of their songs as a start to this project. I'm a worship leader up in Truckee, am 23 yrs. old, play guitar (electric/acoustic) and sing, and would really love to find people from around the Reno/Tahoe area around the same age (that actually can be anywhere from 17-35ish, depending on the individual) and with a drive for skill and excellence at their instrument or talent. We would not belong to a particular church or even denomination for that matter, but to the Body of Christ, plain and simple. At this point, I'd love to hear from all types of musicians and vocalists who have backgrounds with their instruments. Sorry, this would not be for beginning musicians. Hey everybody! So heres the deal, a band without a drummer is useless! And we need a drummer! We're a 3 piece group (guitar, bass, vox) but we need that last piece to help us get things going. But we love all sorts of music, from Marilyn Manson to Slayer, and from The Beatles to Hendrix, we love all types of music so no worries on us being narrow minded or anything. Looking for singer/guitarist for duo

I am a singer/bass player looking for a singer/guitar player to form a duo to play with a drum machine to play at casinos and clubs in Tahoe and Reno. I am 55 years old (but I think I look younger). I have a small PA system that is enough to play most clubs. I�ve played in bands on the North Shore and in Reno for many years.
I�ll describe the kind of thing I envision here, but there�s lots of room for your input. I�m pretty flexible about what I would be interested in if I think it would work and be fun.
I want to work and make some money at this, so I think a lower-volume duo is the best model in this economy. I would want to do mostly covers, anything from 60�s to current music, but probably focused on 1980-1995. The BOB-FM 97.3 format is probably a pretty good model of what I�m envisioning.
I would want to use very simple drum machine programs, just basic beats so as to keep it simple and minimize the possibilities for mistakes while playing live. I would want to keep it danceable. I am not thinking of this primarily as playing background music while people eat dinner.
We might want to have a drummer or two available to play gigs if someone wanted to hire a full band.
The most important thing I�m looking for in a guitarist is strong vocals. Proficiency on guitar is less important than strong vocals. I am looking for someone who could do lead vocals on one-third to two-thirds of the songs and easily handle harmonies. I�m not looking for a guitarist who doesn�t sing, or only feels comfortable doing �oohs and ahhs� Electric guitar or amplified acoustic guitar would be OK. If you have originals we could work in some of those.
I have a full-time job so I can�t do week-long out-of-town gigs. I don�t want to do metal, hip-hop, blues, or all originals.

Ok folks last Sundays Variety Show was killer. We had Ukelelis?, Mandolins, Tracked drums and killer vocals and guitars, high volume screaming metal sounds, beautiful acoustic guitar playin and it all went well together(at different time) hehheheh. Some of the action is in the pictures below. This Sunday will feature singer songwriter Spike Mcquire and he will be doing some of his original songs from his new CD and also have some them available for sale at the show. It is also SINGLES NIGHT, I know of couple of these single ladies who are coming out tonight and if your single you will want to meet them. It should be fun we. The PLeasant Heads will be playing the dancible music for the last two sets so all will be in order and should be a rocking good time for singles and all others so come out.
