2001 Cadillac Coupe DeVille DHS - $4,500 (North Carson City)

As the story goes this Cadillac was driven by a sweet ole lady, my Mother. My Father worked for Cadillac in Detroit and they always owned one. This car has always been garaged, gotten the best servicing, looks, drives like new. I inherited her in 2016.
It has only122k miles making it a 5,300 mile per year car. (The average driver drives 10-15k per year) I know the history of this car. My Mom bought it from her friend who bought a new Cadillac every 5-10 years. He purchased it from Saint Claire Cadillac in San Jose, Ca. To my knowledge there have been no accidents ever!
In 2023 I wanted to bring this car up to near perfect. I took it to Michael Hohl Cadillac and spent $2400 on a little checklist to make it even more perfect. The AC compressor was replaced, new battery, seat sensors, misc flaws repaired. For the past 8+ years this Cadillac has needed very low maintenance and has been serviced with just typical maintenance.
INTERIOR:
The interior is beautiful and in excellent shape. The heated seats are extremely comfortable. (Quoting Top Gear 2004 the Cadillac De Ville is one of the most comfortable cars ever built) Power everything, front wheel drive (great in snow!), sonar assist for backing up and it warns of oncoming traffic too. This has the very respected Northstar motor (So good they are used in speed boats). I remember my Mom's friend told us the custom chrome wheels cost almost $4,000!. There is a very small lipstick stain on the passenger seat but I can say nobody EVER smoked in my Mother's car.
EXTERIOR:
There really aren't the usual rock chips, scratches etc most 20+ year cars have. We've always parked far out in parking lots away from door dings. There are a few minor imperfections. A bump on the upper front right quarter panel like a golf ball hit it, but that is not very noticeable. The rear reflector/light bar is a little separated from the body. (M.Hohl wanted $400 to fix this! it too is really no big deal!) And a small scratch on the rear left wheel well.
REPAIR HISTORY:
I have only been driving her about 2 miles a month to keep her sound. There are no immediate repairs needed. Maybe the AC recharged/serviced.
PAST HISTORY:
About 10 years ago a southern California dealer loused up a simple radiator swap and the water drained 20 minutes after we left the dealership! We had the motor head and transmission repaired. About 8 years ago our mechanic saw a small crack on the block and it was repaired. He told us "this is a common thing with the NorthStar motors and this repair will either fail in an hour or last forever".
MINOR IMPERFECTIONS:
When you go in reverse the right mirror "kneels" to see what's behind you on the ground but it comes up just off the programmed position (you easily adjust it in about 2 seconds). She has a very small oil leak. About a thimble full each month which is typical for a 20 plus year old car.
I intended to buy a newer Cadi to replace this car. I looked for months, ran over to Sacto a couple times... Time after time I'd test drive a newer Cadillac that was rough, stiff, or felt like a plastic toy. The newer seats feel like hard plastic. Then I'd tell the Salesman "My 2001 drives nicer than that!" And so "surprising" how many cars on car lots had hidden flaws the car dealers "forgot" to tell me about on the phone... (large scratches, bondo, misaligned body panels, rough ride, lunging transmission shifts, etc etc)
After about a year searching I found a car that drives "a little nicer" than this car... a BMW 7 series !!! ($130k new) but honestly this 2001 DeVille drives smoother and is much more comfortable than a lot of newer cars. I would be happy driving this car forever but I have to make some long trips to L.A. and the Bay. Any car over 20 years should not be driven on 1,000 mile trips on hot or freezing days!.
PLEASE! No low ballers. I've had several buyers. I'm willing to come down a little but I'm including a couple eBay sales in this ad I saw for a 2001 going for $9k+ with lower mileage but in comparable shape. People who know this model year know it's one of the best Cadillacs ever made.
UPDATE: I've had a couple people wanting to buy this car for long commutes. The reason I'm selling this car is it is over 20 years old. I really don't think this is a good car for driving long distances. I really don't want to worry about someone buying my car. But I am selling AS IS, sale is final, no guarantees.
Registration is about $130 per year and is paid through Aug 2026.
