Seeking Qualified Substitutes
Position: Substitute Teachers for all grades – K-8
Start date: Open until filled daily, weekly, and month assignments available
Salary: SNACS pays above the WCSD salary schedule for substitutes. Daily rates are based on education, experience, position, and meeting expectations. The base rate for pay is $100 per day with a bonus of up to an additional $50 per day depending on requirements of the position and performance therein as determined with the Education Director/Principal.
Education Requirements: Minimum 60 credits in education or related field and be eligible to obtain a Nevada substitute teaching license.
Experience: Experience in early childhood, elementary, and intermediate preferred. Candidates are expected to deliver a positive behavior support system that enhances social and emotional growth. Candidates are expected to engage students and their families to support the small school community. Candidates are expected to provide instruction based on lesson plans provided using a combination of whole and small groups with choice centers. Candidates are expected to implement the Personal Learning Plans for all students and deliver high quality instruction using a circle, center, seat model with blended learning leveraging technology. Candidates are expected to assess students using a spectrum of tools as defined in the lesson plans. Experience in and understanding of these areas are preferred. Experience coaching and facilitating learning is essential to the school model.
Other Requirements: Must meet all certification requirements as a highly qualified substitute teacher . Candidates are expected to understand child and adolescent development and be passionate about teaching/inspiring students. Candidates should have a strong working knowledge of technology in the classroom setting. Candidates are expected to work a 7.5 hour day working with students and maintaining a clean and orderly classroom environment.
Job Description: Substitute teachers are expected to work as part of a collaborative P-12 team that ensures all SNACS children are literate, problem-solvers, leaders, and productive citizens. Each member of the team is expected to adhere to high expectations and deliver effective instruction that yields positive student outcomes. Substitutes are expected to provide the work of a teacher in lieu of their absence to ensure students are able to continue learning, developing, and growing to attain their goals as defined on the Personal Learning Plans. Teachers work as a team to develop Personal Learning Plans for every student in all subject areas based on school-wide assessments and ensure student engagement, achievement, growth. All teachers are expected to implement the SNACS model using choice and PLAY ensuring all students learn. This requires teachers to be experts in facilitating learning across all learning platforms and not solely directed teaching. Whole group instruction time is minimal. Assessment data and Personal Learning Plans are used to design instruction using a circle, center, seat model and ability groups by subject area through promoting choice. Teachers are expected to deliver a positive behavior support system that enhances social and emotional growth. Teachers are expected to engage students and their families to support the small school community.
