Join the Momentum River Expeditions team as our Retail Associate/ Whitewater Rafting Photographer on the Kern River this summer! Maintain our boutique retail shop, welcoming excited whitewater rafters and then follow them down the river snapping action shots of them on their whitewater adventure. The ideal candidate loves people, is good in social situations, has excellent attention to detail, has a high standard for organization and keeping their work area clean, and loves hiking. Your day would begin with opening our cute retail store, the "River Center," where you will meet all the guests and guides who will be out on the river that day, and you’ll help everyone get checked in and ready for their trip. After all guests have arrived for the morning trips, you will drive down to the river, hike 10-15 minutes to the rapids, take action shots of the rafts going through, hike 10-15 minutes back to your car, return to the River Center, and share the photos with the guests. In between trips you'll tidy up the River Center, and get ready to do the same thing in the afternoon. After shooting, you’ll return to our shop and share your photos with the guests who are always thrilled to look at the photos you have taken. You'll keep track of retail inventory, and order more/restock items when we are running low. At the end of the day, you'll do a full deep clean of the River Center to prepare it for the next day’s guests. You will have a supervisor you report to at the end of the day or if you need anything, but you will be largely handling the day to day retail, photography sales, and inventory of the shop on your own. You'll be driving to and from the river on your own, and hiking to and from the river on your own. This position requires you to be largely self-motivated, self-reliant, and have the ability to independently solve problems. You certainly won’t be lonely, the guides and guests will be in and out of the River Center all day, and we want you to be outgoing, social, and spend as much time as you can chatting with our guests, while balancing your other responsibilities. Being friendly and chatty is a huge plus for this role. In addition to building experience in retail sales, photography, tourism, and recreation, this position offers a dynamic workplace where no two days are the same with an experienced team of professionals to collaborate with and learn from. Build your photography portfolio, your retail/sales experiences, and spend lots of time outside along the river.
