Sorensen’s Café, located at Desolation Hotel Hope Valley, is currently seeking a friendly, professional Part-Time Server/Bartender to join our team. We are under new management and are building a positive, energetic, and supportive work environment in a truly beautiful mountain setting.
About the Café & Property:
Sorensen’s Café serves guests daily from Noon to 8:00 PM, with seasonal hours for winter. We offer a casual, approachable menu featuring burgers, pot pies, soups, salads, and desserts in a laid-back mountain atmosphere.
Our bar program features a small curated wine list, draft beer, and classic cocktails with thoughtful riffs.
Desolation Hotel Hope Valley is a 27-cabin resort property with a small campground, luxury yurts, and two on-site restaurants, all nestled in the mountains and welcoming both overnight guests and day visitors.
Position Overview:
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hospitality, multitasking, and working with a small, dedicated team. The Server/Bartender provides excellent guest service while maintaining efficiency, professionalism, and a welcoming atmosphere.
Schedule & Pay:
Restaurant hours: Noon – 8:00 PM (seasonally dependent)
Opener shift: starts at 11:00 AM
Closer shift: starts between 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM
Current openings: Thursday through Monday shifts
Weekend and holiday availability is required
Pay: California minimum wage (hourly) + tips
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide attentive, friendly service to guests
- Take food and beverage orders and deliver items promptly
- Prepare and serve wine, draft beer, and classic cocktails
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of dining room and bar areas
- Handle cash and POS transactions accurately
- Communicate effectively with kitchen and management staff
- Follow all alcohol service, safety, and sanitation guidelines
- Side work including but not limited too, restocking, polishing glasses, garnish prep, silverware polish & roll
- Perform other standard server and bartender duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Minimum of 3 years serving and/or bartending experience preferred
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs
- Comfortable with bending, kneeling, reaching, and standing during work activities
- Strong communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude
