About the Café and Hotel
Sorensen’s Cafe and Desolation Hotel Hope Valley is proud to be under new management and expanding our team! We are seeking friendly, reliable Bartenders and Front of House Professionals to help deliver exceptional, 5-Star guest experiences in one of the most stunning alpine destinations in California.
Desolation Hotel Hope Valley is a 27-cabin resort property with a small campground, luxury yurts, and two on-site restaurants, all nestled in the mountains and welcoming both overnight guests and day visitors.
Sorensen’s Café serves guests daily from Noon to 8:00 PM. We offer a casual, approachable menu featuring burgers, pot pies, soups, salads, and desserts in a laid-back mountain atmosphere. Our bar program features a small, curated wine list, draft beer, and classic cocktails with thoughtful riffs.
Position Overview
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hospitality, multitasking, and working with a small, dedicated team. Our Servers provide excellent guest service while maintaining efficiency, professionalism, and a welcoming atmosphere.
Schedule and Pay
Restaurant hours: Noon – 8:00 PM
Opener shift: starts at 11:00 AM
Closer shift: starts between 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM
Current openings: Full or Part Time
Weekend and holiday availability is required
Pay: California minimum wage (hourly) + tips
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Provide attentive, friendly service to guests
Take food and beverage orders and deliver items promptly
Prepare and serve wine, draft beer, and classic cocktails
Maintain cleanliness and organization of dining room and bar areas
Handle cash and POS transactions accurately
Communicate effectively with kitchen and management staff
Follow all alcohol service, safety, and sanitation guidelines
Perform other standard server and bartender duties as assigned
Requirements
Must be 21 years of age or older
3+ years serving and/or bartending experience preferred
Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs
Comfortable with bending, kneeling, reaching, and standing during work activities
Strong communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude
