Recent graduate looking for engineering position (Reno/Tahoe)

available afternoons
available evenings
available mornings
available weekdays
education completed: doctoral

I recently completed my college education and am now looking for employment as an entry-level engineer. My ideal job would involve the design and/or construction of high-quality, high-efficiency, resilient and sustainable homes. I have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam and am currently registered as an engineering intern in Nevada. My goal is to become a PE within the next two to four years.

I have an undergraduate education in Civil Engineering, which covered general engineering topics suitable for civil majors. I also have a graduate degree in Civil/Environmental engineering, which focused on sustainability as well as project management. I finished my education by earning a PhD in Civil Engineering, where my studies and research concentrated on residential and small commercial energy use and environmental systems. I would consider my education more in line with an architectural engineering program, rather than a civil engineering program, due to my focus on energy and environmental systems during my PhD work.

Prior to attending school I was a self-taught computer administrator, IT manager and technical trainer for many years. However, my personal goal of attending college drove me to eventually quit work and attend school full-time. I chose civil engineering because the design and construction of new homes interested me, and I wanted to investigate ways to build higher quality and more efficient homes at a cost comparable to existing methods.

If you have a position available and would like to learn more about me, please respond to this post and I will forward my resume for your review. However, I would ask that professional recruiters not contact me at this time (I'll post an update if this changes).

Thank you for your consideration.
