This Santana Tandem is the perfect road bike for couples who want to enjoy riding together. You start together and you finish together. It made a world of difference in our riding enjoyment. This bike looks great and performs equally well. Solidly built and smooth riding. Entry level Santanas of similar design start at $4,500 without pedals or other accessories. This bicycle is equipped with front and rear wheel brakes, but this model also has a high performance rear axle brake for those fast descents. It is an earlier model "Elan", and we purchased it at the factory in Claremont, CA. They were trying out new colors, so this aqua is probably unique. It has 15 gears and the top cross bar is 30.5 inches from the ground. The wheels are 27" x 1.25". The tires only have a few hundred yards of test riding after complete replacement of shift cables and housings and brake cables and housings. The pedals are Shimano SPD pedals with one side for snap in and one side regular pedal for both front and rear pedals. A rear rack for panniers is included, as well as a frame mounted pump and four water bottle holders. The shifting levers are a design which I really prefer. It is at the end of the front rider's handle bars, and it makes for easy shifting when you don't want to take your hands off of the handle bars.
