Robert Half is looking for a Dispatch Lead to support transportation operations in Sparks, Nevada as part of a contract to permanent opportunity. This role oversees day-to-day driver coordination, load execution, and service performance while helping maintain a safe, compliant, and well-supported fleet. The ideal candidate brings strong dispatch experience, sound judgment, and the ability to build trust with drivers in a fast-moving transport environment.
This position is Wednesday-Saturday from 4pm-4am.
Responsibilities:
• Direct daily dispatch activity to align driver schedules, freight coverage, and service expectations across transportation operations.
• Monitor driver hours of service and route activity to keep work assignments compliant, efficient, and responsive to customer demands.
• Guide drivers through performance improvement, communication best practices, and safe operating habits to strengthen overall fleet reliability.
• Support the use of transportation technology and mobile driver tools by coaching employees on proper adoption and consistent usage.
• Maintain oversight of vehicle care expectations, including pre-trip and post-trip routines and responsible equipment handling.
• Build strong working relationships with drivers so they feel engaged, informed, and connected to the broader organization.
• Administer safety and compliance programs, including driver file reviews, roadside inspection follow-up, camera event management, and drug and alcohol testing requirements.
• Lead incident response activities such as road tests, accident follow-up, injury coordination, simulator training, and corrective action planning when safety concerns arise.
Requirements:
• At least 3 years of experience in transportation, dispatch, fleet operations, or a closely related logistics environment.
• Strong working knowledge of dispatching, ground transportation, and transportation management practices.
• Experience coordinating drivers, freight movement, and fleet activity in a fast-paced, high-volume setting.
• Ability to interpret and manage hours of service requirements, safety expectations, and compliance-related documentation.
• Effective communication and customer service skills, with the ability to build productive relationships across teams and with external partners.
• Solid analytical and problem-solving ability, with sound judgment and the resilience to resolve issues through completion.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, or a related field preferred.
